Abstract:

Preventive protection in Museums includes all strategies that control the process of destruction of cultural and historical monuments and prevent damage to them. The first step in these activities is the Museum pests’ identification so that the pest management program can be used in Museums. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the Niavaran Museum Palace pests and suggest methods for preventing them. Method and Research Design: In this study, insects were examined in three buildings of the Niavaran Museum Palace complex including the Royal Library, Ahmad Shahi Pavilion, and Sahebgharanieh Palace. The study was carried out using a field laboratory method. Insects were collected from all aspects of buildings using brushes and traps. The samples were identified after examination in the laboratory. Findings and conclusion: The Niavaran Museum Palace insects belonged to the order Thysanura (having long caudal filaments), the beetles of the family Dermestidae, Ptinidae, and the moth butterflies of the family Tineidae. In order to develop an integrated pest management plan, the current methods of pest control in Niavaran Museum Palace were evaluated and preventive strategies and monitoring programs were presented, so that the use of pesticides is the last option.

Abstract:

Lack of stability in identity for urban residences remarkably resulted in rupture of any connection between inhabitants and environment or the inhabitants themselves. “ At the top priority, Museums are expected to preserve the identity of culture in a society. Museums play a key role in preservation of culture, and in another word, these monuments are the essentiality of survival, as well as durability for a human society” . In addition, the case study city (Shiraz) has two benefits: a cultural tissue in city, and having lots of Museum visitors. Thus this city needs more spaces like Museums and other cultural buildings. Amongst the most popular monuments is Martyr and War Museum which implicate the approach of today life of Iranian society. However, the crucial objective of this study is to present the general principles for designing a Museum as a branch of planning. Although we know the population of city, but estimating the necessary space of a Museum is difficult. Consequently, the current study includes estimation of per capita, as well as spaces suitable for such projects. For this purpose, based on previous studies, as well as samples and statistics are used to estimate the population and visitors using sampling and standards. This study aims to seek a proper method to estimate the number of visitors, as well as occupied spaces for Martyr Museum located in Fars Province. Overall, there could be counted four different methods for the current study, including: estimation of population and per capita, sampling from present spaces, sampling of visitors, estimation of per capita and spaces. In each step, certain statistics were needed. After estimating of population, as the most preliminary method, based on universal, as well as Iranian per capita reference, necessity or non-necessity of the Museum construction was assessed. In the second method, occupied spaces of certain internal and external Museums were compared and the total required space was eventually calculated. Third step was processed on the basis of sampling from visitors of war Museums worldwide and Museums located in Tehran and Shiraz City (particularly Martyr Museum). Finally, according to the statistics, simply number of visitor and required spaces for constructing these monuments could be assessed. Results showed the considerable lack of cultural areas like Museums in Iran and the whole region. In this regard, per capita considered for cultural spaces in the country is less than universal standards. Moreover, the total visits of this Museum in daily visits and peak visits for special days were evaluated. Results illustrated that number of visits from Martyr Museum showed a significant difference compared with other Museum which attract every cultural designer. Meanwhile, space of the whole cultural area is estimated by comparing the other Iranian monuments. Thereupon, calculation of the required spaces would be simplified in this manner. However, as induced from the present study, physical planning of a process is basically structured on the basis of society requirements. Hence, the current presented method could be applicable for the further physical plans in future.

Abstract:

In 1930, the Etemad Carpet Company was founded in Qazvin, Iran, and by the end of its 11-year run, it had transformed the city’s long carpet-making tradition. This article explores the hallmarks of Etemad carpets in the historical context in which the company operated. Analyzing the designs of the Etemad carpets in the Qazvin Museum suggests that although the company’s weavers came from all across the country, Etemad carpets remained consistently unique and innovative in their designs. Conducted as descriptive-analytical research, the study looked at written sources as well as archival pictures of Etemad carpets, and interviewed experts and scholars. It found that variety in design, colors, and motifs was the chief characteristic of Etemad carpets. The carpet designs featured innovative floral and abstract motifs, had little empty areas, and dominated their backgrounds. The use of a diverse set of floral motifs — including round flowers, Shah Abbasi flowers, leaves, buds, and arabesques — and various design compositions brought variety to Etemad carpets. Furthermore, the designs were visibly influenced by the native climate, featuring grape leaves and pistachio flower clusters, which represented two of Qazvin’s major crops. Khataee motifs were more frequent than arabesques across all the studied Etemad carpets,

Abstract:

The current research was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of training courses held for teachers based on the Kirkpatrick model. The research population is all the people who participated in the mentioned training courses and finally, 123 people who participated in the courses during 2013-2014 were selected as a sample through simple random sampling method. This research is descriptive in terms of data collection, practical in terms of purpose, and evaluation in terms of function. To collect information in the first level, the reaction level evaluation form was used, and in the second and third levels, a questionnaire was used to evaluate learning and behavior. One-sample t-test was used to analyze the obtained data. The findings of the research indicated that there was no optimal effectiveness in all four levels of reaction, learning, behavior and results, and the main reasons for this were the failure to conduct a needs assessment for the mentioned courses, and the lack of mastery of the professors of the courses. The content and method of teaching, lack of attention and correct criteria to attract the professors of the courses, lack of motivation in the teachers to participate effectively in the courses and attend only to receive certificates and degrees, and lack of attention to useful and practical content in the courses.

Abstract:

Museum as a multi-faceted and multi-functional institution, has a social and cultural concept at the community level, which is related to power, ideology and dominant discourses. Meanwhile, nationalism is one of the main discourses that can fully encompass the Museum institution and show how Museums are used to serve it. Based on this, the establishment and transformation of Museums can be examined according to the ideology of the Pahlavi government in the construction of national identity and as a representation of political-cultural changes at a critical stage of Iranian society. Therefore, in the current study, in order to analyze the relationship between the Museum institution and the discourse of nationalism in the Pahlavi period, three Museums including: “Museum of Ancient Iran, Carpet Museum of Iran, and Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art” have been studied. The main question is: What effect did the evolution of nationalism discourse have on Museum as an institution in Iran during the Pahlavi period? The qualitative research approach and discourse analysis method have been used with an emphasis on the theory of Laclau and Mouffe. The data was collected qualitatively through library research. Sampling was conducted purposefully and with a “type” strategy (in the case of Iranian Museums). The purpose of case sampling is to select obvious examples and average cases of the subject and phenomenon to provide a detailed description of it. As a result, different articulations of nationalism discourse in the first Pahlavi period under the central sign of archaism and the second Pahlavi period with the central sign of originalism, back to yourself can be seen in various dimensions and discourse acts such as naming, architecture, urban location, and the collections exhibited in the Museums. The Museum institution, as a government symbol, was involved in the discourse, which has deeply determined its details,Therefore, Museums have had a discourse function and a special relationship with discourse.
